Missing nature center's Maggie Jones
Having lived in Mystic since 1960 I have had the pleasure of watching The Denison Pequot Nature Center grow from a barely discernible dot on the landscape to the natural wonder that exists today. It serves the needs of the community in innumerable ways and preserves at least a few acres of enchanting green space for all to enjoy. We bring our needy children there for their emotional and social needs. We bring our wounded animals and birds for the nurture of Maggie Jones. Reading, “Jones replaced as director of Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center” (July 8), compels me to write this letter. Maggie Jones has been the beating heart of that organization. Now that living heart has been pulled right out by the board of trustees. Shame on you.
