Plan for Fireboat warms their hearts
After reading the article, “America’s Fireboat eyeing New London as summer home,” (April 27), we were compelled to write in support of Ken Edwards’ plan and the initiative to find a qualified mechanic to enable the Fireboat to make the approximate 30-mile trip to New London from New York. It would be wonderful for the residents and tourists to see this piece of history in our town that we love. New London has potential, and we believe firmly that many good things will continue to happen in our hometown.
Romo Gentilella was a well-known fire chief in New London, and he is Joan’s uncle and godfather. It would be fitting for his legacy to have the Fireboat be in New London.
We don’t know where we are going, but we will never forget where we came from.
