Food tip: Caramel Apple, Subway

FOOD TIP

Caramel Apple Cookie

Subway

A lot of people — even baking snobs — probably know that Subway cookies can be quite good. And if you're the sort that buys into the whole "autumn flavors" thing, treat yourself to one or six of the short-time-only caramel apple cookies the sandwich chain is offering. They're big and chewy, with small chunks of cooked apple baked into the sugary dough. The best part, though, is the thick caramel-sauce squiggles on top. They've been heated sufficiently to, well, caramelize — and there's a reason we say "caramelize." Individual cookies are 85 cents, with three for $2.
